The length of time for the expiration date or "best used before" date depends on the type of product, as well as the brand.
Perishable items (such as flax oils or certain probiotics) generally have shorter expiration dates. Although our warehouse is fully air-conditioned, these more fragile items are put in cold storage (freezer or refrigeration unit) for maximum freshness.
Our receiving department does its best to verify and then enter the correct expiration dates for all incoming products. However, discrepancies do occur from time to time. This being said, the exceptionally high turnover at iHerb ensures that our inventory is among the freshest in the industry.
The Shipping Weight includes the product, protective packaging material and the actual shipping box. In addition, the Shipping Weight may be adjusted for the Dimensional Weight (e.g. length, width & height) of a package. It is important to note that certain types of products (e.g. glass containers, liquids, fragile, refrigerated or ice packed) will often require protective packaging material. As such, these products will reflect a higher Shipping Weight compared to the unprotected product.

Steel Cut Oats (also known as Irish Oats) are whole grain oat groats that have been cut into smaller pieces rather than being rolled to create rolled oats. Commonly used as a hearty breakfast cereal, Steel Cut Oats have the highest nutritional value of all forms of oats and are a tasty and convenient way to quickly improve one's diet.
Soluble fiber from foods such as Steel Cut Oats, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease. A serving of NOW Real Food Steel Cut Oats supplies 2 grams of soluble fiber.
Because you are what you eat, Now Real Food has been committed to providing delicious, healthy, natural and organic foods since 1968. We're independent, family owned, and proud of it. Keep it natural. Keep it real.
Directions: Combine 2/3 cup oats in 2 cups water. Add a dash of salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serves two.

iHerb Customer Reviews
If you're going to eat oats, THESE ARE THE BEST FOR YOU! These are oats without all the processing - that takes away the health benefits! They take 15 minutes to cook, compared with other minute oats ... but it's well worth it! For the 1-cup serving, mix in cinnamon to taste and 1/4-cup maple syrup. You have an incredibly healthy meal - any time of day!
Tried every other brand and they are good but steel cut oats are better and I like the fact aren't processed beyond their natural form. Take a little longer to cook but my, oh my, are they ever worth the extra prep time. I add butter, brown sugar and a little milk (Pet is best), then pig out. The chewy, natural grain goodness is different and may take some adjusting to but when you realize this product is only one step removed from the grass it was plucked from, it's wholesome value becomes obvious. We eat it several times a week and feel better for having done so. I cut down on the prep time by soaking them in hot water for a while before putting the saucepan on the burner to cook.
