Vitamin E refers to a group of 8 fat-soluble compounds that include both tocopherols and tocotrienols. There are 4 components in each group, Alpha, Beta Gamma and Delta. Vitamin E is an excellent antioxidant as indicated in the product information provided by iherb. The most important things to know about vitamin are: 1. Only Take the natural form. The prefex "d" indicates it is a natural form. A "dl" prefix indicates it is synthetic. Synthetic vitamin E has been shown in recent years to be problematic so totally avoid it. 2. Take all 8 forms (Full Spectrum) to get the synergistic effect. This is how Vitamin E is found in foods like wheat germ oil which is very high in vitamin E. Most supplements today only have one form and this may cause an imbalance. Some may have 2-4 but very few have all components like this product. 3. Vitamin E is a fat soluble compound and it can accumulate in the body so don't take too much. Stick to the daily dose recommended on the bottle. 4. Vitamin E can thin the blood so folks on anticoagulants need to be careful and should check with their health care professional. In summary get your vitamin E from wholesome Food, whole food supplements that are derived directly form fruits and vegetables, or get a natural full spectrum vitamin E like this one form Life Extention.
