My hair is about 50% gray. I bought medium brown (closest to my natural color) . Used it according to directions, spent about 30 min with color number one and another 30 min with color number two. Used blow drier to activate both colors. It is a lot of work, and a lot of clean up, but I am allergic to conventional hair color. I also like the herbal smell of my hair, compared to the chemical smell after conventional semi permanent color. Here is the result:

Henna is truly a mess. You have to be so committed to avoiding chemicals to even fool with it. This product is a henna kit. First you apply the bright red henna undercoat (Step 1) to cover gray and give the second step something to bond to. Next you apply the Step 2 indigo/henna blend. Finally, you rinse for a long, long time. But this DOES actually cover gray. If you have gray roots, henna alone does not cover them. It is twice the work, but you need to use a kit like this to cover gray effectively. Medium brown is a good color, not too dark. I once used the dark brown version of this and ended up with black strands. So I stick with medium brown. INDIGO is impossible to remove. Do a strand test. PS You cannot go into chlorinated water once you have hennaed your hair unless you wear a bathing cap. Chlorinated pool water WILL turn your hair forest green. Word to the wise.

I dyed my hair a couple of days ago and I am so pleased with the results. The colour is darker thank expected but beautiful and my curly and dry hair is left really conditioned and lovely to touch. All greys completely covered. If you used henna before, you know the process is long and messy. However with this one, even though it's a two step method, it was much easier than with other 1 step henna dyes I tried, as the consistency is amazing! It's really finely ground and mixed with water it turns into smooth paste that's easy to apply. You won't need to wash out little twigs and grains out of your hair for ages like with other henna brands. I left the step 1 for 30 min, and step 2 for 2 hrs. Highly recommended, I will be repurchasing.

my mom has been using this product for about 5 months now & she really likes it. it's much better than the traditional chemical hair dyes almost everyone uses nowadays. the color lasts for much longer (more than 4 weeks) & the hair becomes so healthy & shiny it's beautiful. but i would say that getting the color that you want takes trial & error; if you want a lighter brown color or some light brown highlights, then add turkish coffee instead of plain water. also, it's a lengthy process (about 4-5 hours), so set a pampering day for yourself aside. otherwise, amazing product & in the long term you won't have any of the side effects of chemical hair dyes.

This product works so well!! the gray coverage is awesome and the coverage in general lasts longer than anything I have used. It doesn't fade as quickly as other products and even though it fades eventually, the gray looks more like highlights and not grey. The grow-out appears before it fades. I have medium brown hair and I use this product with coffee so the hair is more brown than reddish. I am sticking with this product!!!

It was time consuming and yeah a lil messy, but after years of using store bought colorants and frying my hair it was worth the time!! I have gotten nothing but compliments on my hair and people asking where I had it done. I tell em it was not a salon, did it myself and it was all natural ingredients and they are shocked! You have to follow the timing for step one and two EXACTLY or the color wont set right. I purchased the Medium Brown and my hair was more than 10% gray. For shoulder length hair all you need is 1 box. It work so well that just after step 1 my grays were covered. It is all natural no chemical scent. The natural scent is earthy not overpowering. I combed out my hair to remove any tangles. I mixed step 1 with boiled distilled water to a mud paste consistency similar to a mud facial mask and let the mud like mixture cool a bit to warm and applied it to my just washed and air dried hair. I applied the muddy paste and added coconut oil to my hair to assist me with working it in I added coconut oil to my muddy hair during the application of both steps 1 and 2 to assist in working the product into my hair in order to try to incorporate it well into my hair. I left step 1 on for two and a half hours and I left step 2 on for 4 hours. I did not put on the plastic hair cap during both steps.After both steps my hair had more volume and shine. In order to maintain the results the instructions recommend repeating this process every month which I will definitely continue to do. I am very happy that I finally did it because I really did miss my natural hair color. Thank you Mother Nature for always having a solution. Thank you Light Mountain for formulating it just right and making it a hassle free process. Thank you iHerb for your great prices and incredible shipping even during these difficult times.

Mix in a paste with tea. Double boiling until the color darkens. Apply to hair for 4 hours. Apply the second time if needed. The red color is specially good for people with a little gray hair as it acts as natural highlight. For people with more gray hair, 2 step application is a must to achieve good result. P.S. I have black hair. I use it for both my mom and me with a few modifications in application and uses. If any questions, feel free to ask.
