I've been buying this for my 13 month old for about 3 months now. I'm pregnant again and my supply severely diminished because of it, so because my other children have had tummy issues with dairy and gluten and soy, I first tried my then 10 month old on the sensitive formulas like Nutramigen and Alimentum, but they made him sooo sick! I looked into non dairy formulas like the Holle goat milk formulas and such but they are so expensive and I couldn't guarantee that they wouldn't make him sick as well. Then I found this one and jumped on it!
My baby likes the flavour and has no problems with the texture, which is grainy. I've found that heating the water first and then adding the formula and letting it sit for 20 minutes helps with the chalky graininess but does NOT get rid of it.. But as I said, my 13 month old doesn't mind at all.
I have had problems finding a bottle/cuppy to use to feed him this stuff. We've used the Como Tomo bottles for a few year now (with our other children too) but the small chunks in the formula would instantly block the nipple hole. So I purchased the nipple with the "Y" cut in it which worked very well... but only for about a week. Then the large particles in this formula tore the silicone nipples apart making the small "y" cut more like a gaping hole I could put my finger through. We though it was just a defective nipple, so we purchased 4 more and had the company send us replacements as well, but the same thing happened with each and every one of them within a week. We now use a Philips sippy cup with a silicone drinking nipple/spout that has just a basic slit in it, and it's been holding up very well for the past 2 months.
I also find that it seems to be dehydrating to him. The first month he started using it, his breath smelled funky, sometimes like corn, and his urine was dark and smelly. So now I make sure he gets almost 2 sippy cups of water a day and those problems have gone away.
