Ping Ling, Taiwan Baozhong oolong tea has a long history in Northern Taiwan, famous for its serene mountains, warm tea spirit and refreshing light green oolongs.

Authentic Baozhong

Only tea grown within Ping Ling county in Northern Taiwan and processed in a specific style can be considered pure Baozhong. There are several tea plant varietals that grow in this region that include the Jin Xuan 'Golden Lily' and well known Qing Xin 'Blue Heart'. Baozhong from the Wen Mountain district is the most famous.

High Elevation

This Baozhong is made by our tea farmer friend who has been growing and making tea for the last thirty four years. His three acre tea garden is one of the highest in elevation and has tea plants which are fifteen to twenty years old.

Best Season

Baozhong is in season during spring (march-april) and winter (october-november) time periods. It is a light green oolong and will oxidize fast if not stored properly.

Sun Withering

After the newly sprouted leaves have been plucked, they are withered in the sun for a few hours to reduce moisture.

Hand Rolling

Once a suitable suppleness is achieved in the leaves, a delicate sideways rolling of the leaves is performed in conjunction with light roasting. The leaves are minimally oxidized and maintain a vibrant, green color. Old style techniques are still in use in selected areas and involves hand processing and wrapping the leaves in paper before roasting. Baozhong is also sometimes referred to as a 'wrapped variety' tea.

Flavor Profile

Several texture levels on the upper palate. Light, toasty, smooth buttery brew.

Suggested Use

Brew two teaspoons of leaf in twelve ounces of pure spring or filtered water at 185F for four minutes. Provides a least three infusions.

my favorite tea!
This is my favorite tea. The most-most. Perfect for me. Light, bright, fresh, sweet, slightly fruity, versatile ... I think he looks like champagne! Leaves a long pleasant aftertaste. I can not describe the flavor and aroma of this variety, it is impossible to transmit the excitement of taste)) And if it seems to me Puer tea with "masculine character", this oolong is very delicate and "feminine." Baodzhong like a happy young girl!

Fully Met Expectations
The claims on its sales write-up didn't disappoint me, fresh, great quality tea leaves which make great tasting tea. I love the container with its air-tight lid.
